This week I have mostly been...

... eating. Anything and everything. Hormones strike again! BUT I have managed to resist the Easter eggs that I've bought for my honorary nieces and nephews (my cousins' little ones. I did buy an egg for myself too - which I haven't eaten - but let's gloss over that). Creme Egg ice cream is amazing.

... watching the Oscars. Love the Oscars. I watch it every year without fail. I don't watch it live because I have to be up early for work, but good old Sky+ does the job nicely. I lost the sweepstake though.... I'm an Avatar fan!

... loving the sunshine. It's surprising how much better life is when the sun has his hat on!

... reading. I finished "Twenties Girl" by Sophie Kinsella last Sunday and loved it. It actually made me cry, which I wasn't expecting at all - I'll post a book review at some point. I have all of Sophie's books and I don't think you can beat them for easy, feel-good reads!

... working. Yawn. I know I'm lucky to have a job etc, etc but that doesn't stop me wishing for a big lottery win, hehe!

... worrying about my cousin Mike. He was up in Newcastle from Monday to Thursday being assessed to go onto the organ transplant list. Mike has CF and needs a double lung transplant. The man himself can explain everything far better than I ever could - you can read his rather splendid blog here.

... enjoying some family time. My parents are divorced and live in different towns around 40 minutes (in opposite directions) away from me, and I hate it. Sometimes they seem so so far away - ok I know it's only a car journey away and I can always call them but it's not the same as them being in the same town so I can pop in for a cuppa or a hug.

It's Mother's Day here in the UK today and yesterday my Dad and I went to see my Grandma (Dad's mum) who lives about 2.5 hours away in Derbyshire. We took her some Mother's Day presents and cards and it was lovely. It was great gossiping with Dad in the car and Grandma was on great form, and it goes without saying that I love her to bits. She's going to be 90 in September! xx

I've been a bit down today as I haven't been able to see/speak to my mum. She had plans to see my step-dad's uncle in Dorset so hopefully we'll catch up next weekend. I went to lay some Mother's Day flowers on my Nan & Grandad's grave this afternoon and I'm always a bit emotional afterwards. My Nan and Grandad pretty much brought me up after my parents divorced when I was 12, and I thought of them as a second set of parents. Miss them so, so much!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mummies out there!
xxx

I totally agree about the sun having his hat on, I even considered dedicating a whole blog post to it ;0)
